Finding a Way to Chat in the Classroom

Bookmark and Share Category: FatCow

In my quest to find a suitable chat room forum I have discovered the following:

Moodle, the open source course management system, has a chat feature.  Moodle is supported by my webhost, FatCow. FatCow also has a chat feature, X7 Chat, that I could install on my website. In addition to X7 Chat, FatCow has a bulletin board, phpBB, which also includes a polling feature (something else I would like to use in my classroom). Moodle has a polling feature as well. WordPress has a polling feature.

Issues to be resolved:

Do I use moodle or do I use X7 Chat or phpBB? Where do I post the videos for my class? What do I use to create the videos (Camstudio or Camtasia) and how do I compress the videos without degrading the quality? finding a way to chat in the classroomfinding a way to chat in the classroomfinding a way to chat in the classroom
